Pope Leo XIV’s first apostolic exhortation, signed today and due to be published on 9 October, will focus on the role of “the poor”.
On Wednesday, SilereNonPossum.com reported that the late Pope Francis had started work on the text with the help of Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia. Monsignor Paglia has “incorporated large sections of one of his books”.
Leo XIV has decided to go ahead with the publication. He asked the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Secretariat of State to revise the text.
Who is Archbishop Paglia?
Monsignor Paglia commissioned a controversial mural for his cathedral in Terni which includes homoerotic imagery and depicts him being embraced by a semi-nude figure.
Furthermore, he has made statements sympathetic to homosexuality. He has expressed openness to the legal recognition of homosex unions, describing such legislation as ‘useful’.
As head of the Pontifical Academy for Life, he has appointed members who support immorality including contraception.

Video Message: Leo XIV Quotes the Jewish Talmud and the Islamic Haddith
Today, Pope Leo XIV sent a video message to the “Walk for Life” fundraising event organised by the Les Turner ALS Foundation in Chicago. ALS stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.
Addressing a diverse religious audience comprising doctors, nurses, social workers, speech therapists, friends, and family, Pope Leo XIV flattered them.
Addressing the “Jewish brothers and sisters”, he used the Hebrew phrase “tikkun olam” (תיקון עולם), which literally means “repair of the world” or “fixing the world”. This phrase originates from the Talmud and also appears in later Kabbalistic writings.
To the Muslims, Leo XIV quoted the Haddith legend: “We are told that 70,000 angels are present when caretakers arrive in the morning. Another 70,000 angels arrive in the evening. I believe that you too are angels.”
Finally, Leo XIV prayed — but to whom? – that the patients may surrender themselves to the mystery of human existence, to the love of their caregivers, and to the embrace of “the Divine One”.

Virus in China spreads to new country in record-breaking outbreak
The virus spreading in China that has prompted Covid-era quarantines and restrictions is spreading, reaching a new country this week as cases surpass 10,000.
Taiwan reported its first confirmed case of mosquito-borne chikungunya fever, the country’s CDC said on Friday.
The virus was detected in a Taiwanese woman who had traveled from Foshan, the current epicenter of the outbreak in China, located in the Guangdong Province. She returned to Taiwan on July 30.
